Marion O. Moeller

March 27, 1930 - February 1, 2017

Somers - Marion O. Moeller, 86, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, February 4, 2017 at United Methodist Church, Somers with Pastor Dave Kruse officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Cemetery, Rinard. Friends may call after 4:00 pm Friday (TODAY) at the United Methodist Church, Somers. Palmer Swank Funeral Home is in charge of the services.

He is survived by his wife, Doris of Somers; daughter, Patricia Wyatt of Dexter; son, Roy (Robin) Moeller of Greenfield; daughter, Pauline (David) Wienhold of Manson; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Moeller of Somers; 5 grandchildren: Ryan (Melissa) Wyatt, Jen (David) Corell, Jody (Mike Shiflett) Wienhold, Chris (Allison) Wienhold, JoAnna (Tyson) Saxton, 14 great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Virginia Moeller of Fort Dodge.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Minnie (Miller) Moeller; son, Jay Moeller; son-in-law, Lynn Wyatt; brothers: Charles, Eugene, and Donald, and sister, Gladys Walker.
Marion O. Moeller was born March 27, 1930 at Somers and graduated from Somers High School in 1948. Marion was united in marriage with Doris Ross on September 3, 1950 at Somers. He farmed and operated a dairy in the Somers area all his life. Marion was a member of the United Methodist Church, Somers, Dairy Associates and Mid America Dairy Associates. He served on Calhoun County Fair Board for 15 years and a 4-H leader for 10 years.

Eldred "Sally" McCubbin

May 22, 1926 - June 6, 2018

Twin Lakes – Eldred "Sally" McCubbin 92, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the Eufaula Manor in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2018 at the Cedar Township Cemetery, Rinard, with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is serving the family.

Sally is survived by her children, Arlys Jean Franken of Eufaula, OK, John (Teresa) McCubbin of Pickrell, NE, Barbara Krepela of Checotah, OK; daughter-in-law Rose McCubbin of Manson; seven grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; siblings, Anna Lou Fichtor of Sydney, H.L. (Rita) Greenwood of Ankeny, Kathy Culbertson of Riverton, and Gil (Chae) Greenwood of Wichita, KS; sister-in-law Karen McCubbin of Omaha, NE; and too many nephews and nieces to name, yet she remembered each for their graduations and weddings. She was preceded in death by her husband Denver; son Jerry; a grandson; brother Howard; and a sister Barbara.

Eldred E. "Sally" Greenwood McCubbin was born May 22, 1926 in Thurman, Iowa to Hugh and Elsie Greenwood. The daughter of a farmer and she was very grateful to have plenty of food to eat during the depression. On March 13, 1947 she was united in marriage to Denver McCubbin. The couple made their home on a farm near Farnhamville for many years, and later moving to Somers and then Twin Lakes upon retirement. Sally attended Tarkio College for two years upon high school graduation, and then Drake University in 1967. She taught school in Lake City and Farnhamville, and then taught kindergarten in Lohrville for 30 years until her retirement. Following her teaching career, Sally opened a ceramic shop in her home and taught ceramics for a number of years. Denver passed away in 2000. Sally was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, Study Club, Quilt Club, and a volunteer of CalPals, and the Twin Lakes Bible Camp.

Doris M. Moeller

Moeller 85, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.  Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2018 at the Somers United Methodist Church in Somers, with Rev. Dave Kruse officiating.  Burial will be at Cedar Township Cemetery near Rinard.  Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, at the Somers United Methodist Church, Somers. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.  Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is serving the family.

     Doris Marie Ross Moeller was born August 30, 1932 near Somers, Iowa.  She graduated from Somers Consolidated School with the Class of 1950.  On September 3, 1950 she was united in marriage to Marion Moeller at Somers.  The couple farmed and operated a dairy in the Somers area for most of their lives.  Marion passed away in 2017.  Doris was an active member of the Somers United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 38 years.  She was also a member of the UMW, where she was District Officer for 9 years.

Linda "Linn" Miller

September 2, 1952 - March 5, 2019

Rinard – Linda “Linn” A. Miller 66, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019 unexpectedly at Trinity Regional Medical Center, Fort Dodge.  Her wishes were to be cremated.  Graveside Services will be 12:30 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Cedar Township Cemetery, near Rinard, with Pastor Jim Davis officiating.  Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is serving the family.

     Linda is survived by her husband, Steven (Steve) Miller of Rinard, her daughters Kristina Marcus of Rinard and Kailee Miller of Fort Dodge; 5 grandchildren, Jade Marcus, Ayedden Miller, Rylee Marcus, Sagan Marcus, and Gage Miller all of Rinard; brothers, Norris Jr. (Dana) Melton of Chillicothe, Missouri, Rick (Dana) Melton of Meadville, Missouri, and James Melton of St. Joseph, Missouri; and sister Judy (Clarence) of Kansas City, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was proceeded in death by her parents Norris and Norma Melton; grandson Floyd Marcus.

     Linda A. Miller was born September 2, 1952 in Meadville, Missouri. Linda was raised and educated in the Meadville area. On June 16, 1979 she was united in marriage to Steven (Steve) C. Miller at their home in Rinard and two daughters were born to this union, Kristina and Kailee. Linda was an amazing Wife, Mother, and Grandma. Linda also worked at Eddie's Bar of Fort Dodge, Casey's of Lohrville, and Prairie Valley Elementary School of Farnhamville.

Gordon "Gus" Erritt

July 31, 1938 - February 20, 2018

SomersGordon D. "Gus" Erritt 79, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Manson. Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, at the Prairie Valley Elementary School, north of Farnhamville, with Rev. Dwaine Simonsen officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City, with a Masonic Rite Service at 7:00 p.m. Private family burial of casket will be at the Cedar Township Cemetery, Rinard.

Gus is survived by his wife Joyce; son Jeff (Dess) Erritt of Somers; daughter Teresa (Adam) Dickinson of Webster City; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother John (Carole) Erritt of Somers; sister Janet (Daniel) Bird of Somers; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John "Jack" and Virginia (Black) Erritt.

Gordon Dean Erritt was born July 31, 1938 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. He graduated from Somers High School, with the Class of 1956. Following his education, Gus drove truck. On February 24, 1962 he was united in marriage to Joyce McKenney at the Somers Methodist Church in Somers. The couple made their home on a farm near Somers and farmed for most of their lives. In addition to farming, Gus also was a school bus driver for the Cedar Valley School District for 27 years. He was a member of the Twin Lakes Masonic Lodge #478 A.F. & A.M., and the Somers United Methodist Church. Gus enjoyed tractor shows and horse shows.

Dennis R. Mosher

March 4, 1950 - January 8, 2018

New Virginia – Dennis R. Mosher 67, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 following his battle with cancer, at the VA Central Iowa Health Care System, Des Moines. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City, with Pastor Ben Worley officiating. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday until service time. Burial will be at Cedar Township Cemetery, Rinard, with Military Rites conducted by the Rockwell City Veterans Organization.

Dennis is survived by his daughters, Mandy (Carl) Kriener of Waucoma, and Wendy Goodman (Travis) of Rockwell City; grandchildren, Cody Mosher of Waucoma, Kalyn Kruse (Ben) of Waucoma, Chase Goodman (Jessica) of Cherokee, and Brody Goodman of Rockwell City; very special friend, Terri Jensen Martensdale; step-daughter Liberty (Chad) Davidson of St. Charles; step-grandchildren, Gentry Davidson (Mitchell), and Carter Davidson, all of St. Charles; his mother, Melva Mosher of Rinard; brothers, Randy (Jane) Mosher of Callender, and Kevin Mosher of Rinard; sisters, Janice (Norman) Dudley of Scranton, Sherry Mace of Jefferson, Jolene (John) Dumdei of South Sioux City, and Vickie (Keith) Mace of Olathe, KS; and sister-in-law Julie Mosher of Gowrie; and other family and friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his father Bill Mosher Sr.; his brother Bill Mosher Jr; and brother-in-law Wayne Mace.

Dennis Ray Mosher, son of Billie and Melva (Painter) Mosher, was born March 4, 1950 at Lake City, Iowa. He grew up in Rinard and graduated from Cedar Valley High School with the Class of 1968. In February of 1969, he served in the United Sates Navy during the Vietnam War as a Gunners Mate on the USS Mars, and was honorably discharged in November of 1970. He continued to serve in the Naval Reserve until 1974. In 1972, he married Tricia France and two daughters Mandy and Wendy were born to this union. Dennis worked for the General Telephone Company in Forest City and then Rockwell City. In 1976, they moved to Montana where he worked for the telephone company there. In 1984, they returned Iowa and made their home in Farnhamville, where Dennis worked for the Gowrie School System. In 1987, the couple divorced. He later met Terri Jensen and the couple made a home together for over 20 years. In 1994, they moved to Indianola and then New Virginia, where he worked with the mentally handicapped. Finally, he retired from Gilcrest Jewett Lumber Company in Waukee.

Larry L. Wilson

September 9, 1935 - December 6, 2014









Jefferson - Larry L. Wilson Sr. 79, born to Herbert Wallace Wilson and Delma Johnson, passed away at home in Jefferson, IA surrounded by family and friends December 6th 2014. Larry L. Wilson was born on September 9, 1935 in Webster City. He was raised and educated in Webster City. Following his education he served with U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1954. He married Gayle Chase July 16th, 1960. Larry worked at Gypsum Mills-Fort Dodge, salesman for Old Home Bakery, Wonderbread, McGarvey Coffee, Owned G&L groceries in Somers, worked at New Coop-Roelyn; later disabled and he did part time shoe repair, was an avid flea market vendor, and a "Jack of all Trades".

Survived by his wife Gayle Wilson, daughters Shari (Brad) Guilliams, Tammy (Bruce) Binkley, Ellen (Willie) Millard, sons David, Tim, and Larry Jr. (Rena), brother Denny Spitler, sister-in-law Twila Benson, brother-in-laws Kenny Chase, Rick Chase, 17 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Delma Spitler, father Herbert Wilson, son Robbie Wilson, brother and sister-in-laws Lowell Chase and Leola Riley, and his best friend Don Riley.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 10th at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Pastor Troy Binkley officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Township Cemetery, Rinard with Military Rites conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
