Gordon W. Hansch

 November 13, 1931 - September 1, 2015

Spirit Lake - Gordon Hansch, age 83, of Spirit Lake, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa. He was born on November 13, 1931, on the farm home in Duncombe, Iowa, to Emil and Velma (Telschaw) Hansch. 
Gordon and his parents moved to Rockwell City in 1943, and graduated from high school in 1950. He enlisted to serve his country in the United States Army in February of 1952, during the Korean War. Gordon served three years and was honorably discharged in 1955. After basic training in Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland, Gordon also received training in the repair of the electronic guidance system of the Nike guided missile and later served as a Radar Technician repairing electronic equipment. He served in Maryland, Fort Monmuth, New Jersey and although he was in the Army, he was also stationed and served in the Seattle Defense Area out of the Bremerton Naval Station because this was the "Cold War Period", before serving in Korea. 

Gordon was united in marriage to Lois Wendt on October 21, 1956, and they farmed east of Rockwell City, from 1956, until 1986. He became a licensed realtor in 1983, while still farming, and worked for Iowa Realty in Fort Dodge, until they moved to Spirit Lake, where he continued as a full-time realtor with Dowden-Hinn Realtors. 

Gordon is survived by his wife, Lois Hansch of Spirit Lake; four sons, Kevin Hansch, and his wife, Marin of Somerset, Wisconsin, Scott Hansch, and his wife, Miste of Rockwell City, Paul Hansch, and his wife, Danielle of Clarion, and David Hansch, and his wife, Rhonda of Luck, Wisconsin; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Emily McAnally of Ft. Dodge; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Gilbert Hansch of Pomeroy. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, September 4, 2015, at Harbor of Joy Lutheran Church in Milford. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Burial will be Friday, at 3:30 P.M. at Cedar Township Cemetery in Rinard, Iowa.
